Shopify Layout Settings
The Layout Settings page controls how filters render on Nimstrata search results and collection pages.
#
Filter Display Options
#
Filter Location
Choose where filters appear relative to the product grid.
Current options include:
- Left of Product Grid
- Hidden Until Toggled
#
Sticky Filters
Keep filters visible while customers scroll through products.
Sticky filters are most effective when filters are positioned on the left side of the page. If your theme uses a fixed header, you can also provide a Fixed Header CSS Selector so the header does not cover the filters while scrolling.
#
Filter Expansion
Control whether filter groups start opened or collapsed:
- Opened
- Closed
- Closed on mobile only
#
Filter Visibility
Control whether the filter panel is immediately visible or hidden behind a toggle button:
- Show filters
- Hide filters
- Hide filters on mobile
#
Filter Counts
Show or hide the count next to each filter value.
#
Filter Value Order
Choose whether values are ordered:
- Alphabetically
- By filter count
#
Filter Behavior Options
#
Search Within Filters
Add a search field inside large filters so shoppers can quickly find a specific brand, size, or other value.
You can enable this on:
- Desktop
- Mobile
- Desktop and mobile
The Tolerance setting controls how many values must exist before the search box appears.
#
Filter Limits
Limit the number of values shown at first, then reveal the rest behind View All.
This setting uses two controls:
- Filter Limit: how many values show initially
- Tolerance: extra buffer before the View All button appears
#
When to Use Layout Settings
Use Layout Settings when you need to:
- Reduce visual clutter on large collections
- Improve mobile filtering behavior
- Make brand or size filters easier to use
- Match filter behavior to your theme layout
For attribute-level filter setup, see App Block Filters.
