Shopify Billing

Retail Cloud Connect is a SaaS tool that connects ecommerce platforms to Google Cloud. Advanced and enterprise merchants maintain full control and ownership over the underlying Google Cloud platform environment, including data and retail configuration settings, but this also means that the merchant is responsible for paying Google Cloud charges separately.

Retail Cloud Connect activates Google’s AI Commerce Search and Recommendations AI solutions without requiring merchants to develop custom software or manage infrastructure. The app keeps product catalog data synchronized, imports real-time inventory, pricing, and user events, and can serve search results, category pages, and recommendations on the online storefront.

Shopify Merchants

If Retail Cloud Connect is purchased via Shopify, app charges are included on the merchant's Shopify invoice. Recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days. All charges are billed in USD. Shopify test and development stores are not charged.

Retail Cloud Connect™ Pricing

The most up-to-date app pricing is available on Nimstrata's pricing page. Merchants can also read more about Nimstrata's transparent approach to pricing.

  • Base platform fees are tiered and based on the number of Shopify catalog SKUs
  • Serving fees are priced per 1,000 AI Commerce Search API calls and per 1,000 Recommendations API calls
  • Retail Cloud Connect follows Google’s pricing model and does not charge a fee for autocomplete requests
  • Retail Cloud Connect does not charge separate fees to ingest real-time user events to AI Commerce Search

Google Cloud Pricing

The most up-to-date AI Commerce Search and Recommendations AI pricing is available on the Google Cloud website. As of October 2025:

  • AI Commerce Search serving costs are $2.50 per 1,000 API calls
  • Conversational Commerce agent queries are charged at $6.00 per 1,000 API calls
  • The first 20,000,000 Recommendations AI predictions are $0.27 per 1,000 API calls, then tiered at lower prices based on total volume
  • Recommendations AI model training is $2.50 per node, per hour

Google Cloud charges can be paid by credit card via a self-serve, automatically paid billing account, or merchants can apply for monthly invoiced billing. The Cloud Billing overview page in Google Cloud’s documentation contains details on this application process.

Merchants can also use Nimstrata's AI Commerce Search pricing calculator to estimate Google Cloud bills and ROI based on traffic estimates and usage patterns.

Pricing Estimates

Pricing estimates are based on catalog size and storefront traffic, ultimately depending on a store’s usage patterns. Nimstrata can help merchants estimate total Retail Cloud Connect and Google Cloud bills, along with potential ROI. Heavy-usage merchants can also work with Nimstrata to reach the right contacts at Google Cloud for volume-based discounts.

Consumption-Based APIs

Google Cloud and Retail Cloud Connect usage charges are based on the number of API requests processed.

Ecommerce storefront traffic may include automated bot traffic in addition to legitimate shopper requests. While some bots are beneficial, such as search engine crawlers that help index the site and catalog, others may generate unnecessary API calls. Nimstrata implements security measures on the Storefront API to protect against common malicious activity and illegitimate traffic patterns, but Nimstrata cannot control the total volume of requests sent to a merchant website and subsequently to the billable APIs.

Merchants using Retail Cloud Connect are responsible for implementing appropriate bot management and traffic protection measures on their storefronts. This may include rate limiting, CAPTCHA systems, bot detection services, or other traffic filtering solutions to manage automated requests before they reach the API layer.
