Shopify Layout Settings
The Layout Settings page controls how filters render on Nimstrata search results and collection pages.
Filter Display Options
Filter Location
Choose where filters appear relative to the product grid.
Current options include:
- Left of Product Grid
- Above Product Grid
When filters are above the grid, shoppers open filters from an All Filters control. This layout also exposes quick-filter settings.
Sticky Filters
Keep filters visible while shoppers scroll through products.
Sticky filters are most effective when filters are positioned on the left side of the page. Sticky filters currently support desktop. If the theme uses a fixed header, merchants can also provide a Fixed Header CSS Selector so the header does not cover the filters while scrolling.
Toggle Drawer
When filters are above the grid, choose how the drawer and top-bar filters behave:
- Overlay Side controls whether the drawer opens from the right or left
- Desktop Filter Click Behavior controls whether a quick filter opens the full drawer or a single dropdown on desktop
Quick Filters
Choose how many quick filters appear before the full filter drawer:
- Quick Filters on Desktop
- Quick Filters on Mobile
Use 0 to hide quick filters on that breakpoint.
Filter Counts
Show or hide the count next to each filter value.
Filter Value Order
Choose whether values are ordered:
- Alphabetically
- By filter count
Filter Behavior Options
Search Within Filters
Add a search field inside large filters so shoppers can quickly find a specific brand, size, or other value.
Merchants can enable this on:
- Desktop
- Mobile
- Desktop and mobile
The Tolerance setting controls how many values must exist before the search box appears.
Sort By Options
Choose where sorting appears:
- Dropdown keeps sorting in the toolbar
- Dropdown (Desktop) / Inside Filters (mobile) moves sorting into filters on mobile only
- Inside Filters puts sorting in the filter panel on all breakpoints
Filter Limits
Limit the number of values shown at first, then reveal the rest behind View All.
This setting uses two controls:
- Filter Limit: how many values show initially
- Tolerance: extra buffer before the View All button appears
Product Page Links
Choose whether product cards link to:
- Selected variant, which keeps the variant in the URL
- Main product page, which removes the variant from the URL
When to Use Layout Settings
Use Layout Settings when merchants need to:
- Reduce visual clutter on large collections
- Improve mobile filtering behavior
- Make brand or size filters easier to use
- Match filter behavior to the theme layout
For attribute-level filter setup, see App Block Filters.
