Introduction
Google Cloud recently announced the pilot launch of the world's first commercially available conversational product search engine. While conversational commerce capabilities were originally announced at NRF 2024, the feature will be going live for all users in October of 2024.
This new feature of Google Cloud’s Vertex AI Search for Retail enables retailers to embed generative AI-powered virtual agents on their ecommerce storefronts and create two-way conversations with users to narrow down their queries and quickly arrive at the products they want.
For example, the search bar can chat with shoppers seeking formal attire for a wedding, and provide personalized product options based on preferred colors, venue type, weather, matching accessories, and budget. It offers LLM generated questions, AI-optimized question ordering, and multiple choice ordering with fine-grained control in the Google Cloud Console.
Retail Cloud Connect
Nimstrata’s Retail Cloud Connect users on Shopify will soon be able to create virtual agents that can have helpful and nuanced conversations with shoppers using natural language and provide product options based on a shopper's preferences.
Enabling Google Cloud’s Conversational Commerce on Shopify stores will be just as simple as activating all of Retail Cloud Connect’s other features, simply leveraging existing catalog data and Shopify’s Online Store 2.0 Theme App Blocks.
